How to build your morning report in Claude

It's ready before you open your computer. With the prompt that builds it for you.

My morning report is a dashboard in Claude with what I need to know today. Today's meetings, the emails that need a reply, news from my industry and from home and abroad, performance from my data sources and my numbers against my goals. It's ready before I open my computer, and it's built in my own brand. The prompt that builds yours is further down the page.

What's in it

Today's meetings, to-dos and action points. The emails that need a reply today, with drafts of the replies. Three things I need to get done. News from the media and sources I follow, in my industry and from home and abroad. And my numbers held up against my goals.

For news and the industry overview I use Firecrawl, so Claude can read the pages I would have opened myself.

The report never gets to act. It reads and writes drafts, but nothing is sent until you've approved it.

Before you start

Give Claude access to your calendar and email under Customize, then Connectors. Add Google Calendar and Gmail, and set the permission to read and write drafts. Never to send.

Have your colors, your font and your logo ready. Then the report comes out in your own brand instead of gray default type. And check that scheduled tasks are included in your plan.

The prompt

Open Claude Cowork, start a new task, and paste in the whole prompt. It asks you five questions, one at a time, and then builds your report.

Help me build my morning report in Claude. It should be ready every morning as a beautiful dashboard in my own brand.

First, check that Gmail and Google Calendar are added under Connectors. If they're missing, tell me before we go on.

Then ask me the questions below, one at a time. Wait for my answer before you ask the next one.

1. What do I do for work, and who are my clients?
2. Which media and sources do I follow for news, in my industry and from home and abroad?
3. Which numbers do I want to see every morning, and where do they come from? For example Instagram, ads, a web shop or a newsletter.
4. What are my goals for the month?
5. What are my colors (hex codes), my font and my logo? Upload the logo if you can.

Once you have my answers, build the report.

Content, in this order: today's meetings from my calendar with the time and who I'm meeting. The emails that need a reply today. Write drafts of the replies, but never send anything. Three things I need to get done today. News from my industry and from home and abroad: five headlines with one line on why they matter for my work, and a link to the source. My numbers against my goals, shown as small charts or progress bars.

Design: build the report as an artifact in HTML, one dashboard I can read in a minute. Use my colors, my font and my logo. Calm, airy and beautiful, with space between the sections, a clear hierarchy and no noise. The date and a short greeting at the top. The sections as calm cards in a grid that also works on a phone.

Rules: you may read my email and calendar and write drafts. You may never send, delete or accept anything until I've approved it. If you can't reach a source, say so in the report instead of guessing. Never make up numbers. If a number isn't in the source, leave the field empty.

Once the first report is built, ask me what to change. When I'm happy with it, help me set it up as a scheduled task in Cowork every morning, so I can find it under Scheduled.

How to build yours

  1. Give Claude access to your calendar and email under Customize, then Connectors. Add Google Calendar and Gmail.
  2. Write what the report should include: today's meetings, the emails that need a reply, three things to get done, your news sources, your numbers and your goals. Ask for it as an artifact or HTML.
  3. Give Claude your brand identity: your colors, font and logo. Then the report comes out in your own brand.
  4. Set it up as a scheduled task. Schedule it for every morning in Cowork, and find it under Scheduled. How to set up scheduled tasks.

Start with today's meetings. The rest will follow.
